Before/after comparison of Bächi glacier (Bernese Alps)

The small Bächigletscher is located on the south side of the Hinterer Galmihorn (3488m) in the eastern Bernese Alps. It lies entirely on the ground of the canton of Valais. Its meltwater flows down the Bächitalbach into the Goms (high valley and municipality). The Bächitalbach flows into the Rotten (= upper course of the Rhone) near the village of Gluringen.

10.08.2025: The 2025 image was taken 1.5 months earlier than the 2023 image. The snow cover on 10 August 2025 was correspondingly greater than on 27 September 2023. Nevertheless, the Bächigletscher glacier continued to lose size and thickness.
